Come and Join Us on Luxurious Waterfront Boat Cruises

Tigger 2, our charter boat company, offers luxury boat cruises to and from our mooring and home base, located at the waterfront. For most South Africans in the know, “waterfront” means only one place, despite this country’s immensely long coastline and the developments that have taken place in all coastal cities.

The waterfront in question is the famed V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. It’s a prestigious hive of activity for tourists, Cape Town residents, property developers, corporate companies, retailers and shoppers, hoteliers, maritime facilities and pursuits, entertainment venues, and those seeking leisure activities. The waterfront offers it all, in spades, combined with world-class standards.

Insufficient Natural Waterfront Protection

A great deal of emphasis has been placed on the arrival of Jan van Riebeeck, his three ships, and their crews and passengers in 1652, as well as their purpose of establishing a station at which the VOC’s trading vessels could drop anchor to take on fresh provisions and water. Consequently, many or most people mistakenly assume that the undeveloped, virgin Table Bay and its waterfrontage offered a natural, relatively safe harbour.

However, this was not so, despite today’s iconic waterfront having its origin in the mid-17th century’s arrival of van Riebeeck. He did, nonetheless, arrange for his men to construct the first jetty here. They must have done a decent job in building their jetty, since it remained in use for a good part of 200 odd years. In its natural state, Table Bay did provide a degree of protection to vessels from south easterly bad weather, but not from that which issued from a north westerly direction.

Cruising into the Present Waterfront

By the mid-1980s, it was decided to redevelop the waterfront – a massive but highly successful undertaking, transforming this then decayed area into what it is today – a mixed use development that fully incorporates and combines the numerous features of the V&A Waterfront with its marine facilities, of which our operation is one.We offer a variety of awe-inspiring, luxurious charter boat cruises from the waterfront, both private and non-private:
